Niners with NCAA Tournament Ties

Posted Mar 18, 2014

Eighteen members of the San Francisco 49ers have their alma maters represented in the 2014 NCAA Tournament. Head coach Jim Harbaugh, a well-known "Michigan Man," can also track his school in the tournament.

If you're having trouble filling out your NCAA tournament brakcet, you might want to consider taking a team that is connected with a member of the San Francisco 49ers.

Starting in two days, many of us will have one eye on the NCAA tourney and the other eye on whatever we’re working on. That’s the reality of March Madness.

For some members of the Niners, both eyes will be on their alma maters in the NCAA tourney.

You might be wondering, “Who are those players with a rooting interest?”

By our count, 18 players and a certain head coach named Jim Harbaugh will be represented in this year’s tournament. Harbaugh’s motivational talk and half-court shooting lesson for the Kansas Jayhawks unofficially gives the Niners coach two teams in the dance.

Niners365 broke down the brackets to find which players are likely to blow up your Twitter feeds with celebratory reactions.
