Morning Tailgate: Brock Has Starter Potential

Posted Nov 29, 2013

Jim Harbaugh and Vic Fangio weighed-in on Tramaine Brock's start on "Monday Night Football."

It’s “Black Friday.” People are racking up the savings all over the nation.

The 49ers are hopeful they reeled in a big discount by locking up Tramaine Brock to a four-year contract. The fourth-year cornerback has enjoyed a breakout season and looked solid in his first true start on “Monday Night Football.”

The win over Washington was the first time Brock was a non-nickel starter. Brock’s produced like a starter in his role. He has a team-high four interceptions and 22 tackles.

“I thought he played very good in his first start,” Jim Harbaugh said earlier in the week.

Vic Fangio elaborated on Thanksgiving.

“He did well,” the defensive coordinator said. “Made some really good plays for us. Made a very critical tackle at the end of the first half there that held them from getting a first down and made them rush the field and kick the field goal. If that player had gotten another few inches it would have been a first down, they would have clocked it and we would have had to defend another play or two. So, that was a big play. And he made other good tackles in the game. I was pleased with his play.”
