The San Francisco 49ers signed wide receiver Kassim Osgood to a one-year contract on Tuesday. The team also placed nose tackle
Osgood rejoins the 49ers after spending the 2013 season and '14 training camp with the team, before being released on August 30. A two-time All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowl selection as a special teamer, he has played in 166 career games and recorded 45 receptions for 766 yards and five touchdowns, while also adding 134 special teams tackles during his 11-year career.
After originally signing with San Diego as an undrafted free agent in 2003, he spent seven years with the Chargers before signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2010. Osgood spent two seasons with the Jaguars, appearing in 28 games (five starts) prior to spending the '12 season with the Detroit Lions, where he appeared in all 16 games. With the 49ers in '13, he played in 14 games and registered 12 special teams tackles, one blocked punt and recovered one muffed punt for a touchdown.
A 34-year-old native of Boston, Mass., Osgood played at San Diego State University where he finished second in the nation with 108 receptions earning First-Team All-Mountain West honors as a senior.
